PARKER REVIEW
23rd August 2003
The 2002 Cabernet Sauvignon
and Shiraz were bottled in September 2003. The following
review of our 2002 barrel samples (from July 2003)
appeared in the latest issue of the Robert Parker's
"Wine Advocate" (Issue 148 dated 23rd August 2003).
Berrys Bridge 2002 Shiraz (90-93)
Berrys Bridge 2002 Cabernet Sauvignon (81-91)
"Barrel samples from fully blended wines, both of these
offerings are scheduled to be bottled in October. Both
taste extremely primary, but it is hard to ignore the
extraordinary quality as well as purity of their fruit.
The earthy 2002 Cabernet Sauvignon exhibits sweet
blueberry and cassis fruit, wonderful lushness, medium
to full body, plenty of glycerin, and a clean,
nicely-textured, lovely finish. It should drink well for
10-12 years.
Even better is
the 2002 Shiraz, a hugely flavourful effort filled with
copious quantities of blue and blackberries intermixed
with a liquid minerality. Medium to full-bodied and
elegant as well as intensely flavourful and impressively
textured, it should also drink well for 10-12 years."
